I’m sure many would find the title of this month’s editor’s note somewhat familiar to a song by American Punk Rock band Green Day’s 2005 hit. I remember during my school days, the month of September would be the toughest as all the projects will come in like a tidal wave that would sweep everyone away. My Facebook’s news feed would have mentions to this song (Wake Me Up When September Ends) every other day as everyone just can’t wait for the month to end.
Well my school days are over (thankfully) with a nice Distinction for my FYP which had nothing to do with September and like a 180 degree change, I now look forward each year to September. While it used to be all dread and gloom, its now full of excitement as the world’s only night race happens right here in Singapore in the month of September. After all, if there is one world sports that has all the glam and glit written all over it, it has to the Formula 1.
This month’s issue of POPCulture Online also brings much excitement as well as the whole POPCulture Online Team will be down to cover a convention that continues to surprise everyone each year. Yup, its the 2012 edition of the coolest east meets west popular culture event, the Singapore Toys, Games & Comics Convention. This will take place over the first weekend of September so do check back here for our coverage on that very happening event.
The POPCulture Online team is also very happy to feature the one and only Nelly Furtado on the cover plus and interview with the Canadian singer-songwriter. We also tell you about her first ever The Spirit Indestructible showcase here in Singapore where both myself and Nicholas had a great time adding in our own little sound effects to one of our favorite hits, “Say It Right”.
We also got our hands on the tablet that looks to change the whole tablet war, the Google Nexus 7 from Asus and with the launch of Guild Wars 2 just a few days ago, we will be telling you why this is the game for both MMORPG Lovers and Haters should consider.
Not forgetting the girls from KiraCandy will be having their first event, the KiraCandy School Party, this month’s issue of POPCulture Online looks to be one of the biggest we had in recent months. Sure it will be tiring and busy for the POPCulture Online team but as its all worth it thanks to the support you, our readers give us each month.
