It's not easy being the star of a superhero movie. Apart from having to look stylish all the time, you gotta jet set and travel the world to make appearances especially if it's the first time you're in a big starring role and the first time a movie as epic as Thor is being done. So I decided to do a little document on all the places Thor lead actor Chris Hemsworth has been visiting before the movie is released.
First the THOR London Press Conference, which took place on 11th April 2011 at the Mirror Room, Claridges Hotel, London. This was the first stop of his european tour.
The press conference also saw Tom Hiddleston aka Loki answer questions from the press. He will also be a part of the Avengers movie which started filming on 25 April and is set for a May 2012 release.
The mastermind behind the movie, Director Kenneth Branagh was also in attendence. Now in case you might think he looks familiar well do you a remember a film called Wild Wild West staring Will Smith and Kevin Kline? Well Kenneth Branagh played the villian Dr Loveless in that movie released in 1999.
A couple more apparences then it's off to the THOR Paris Press Conference, which took place on 12th April 2011 at the Bristol Hotel, Paris,
Actor Chris Hemsworth and Director Kenneth Branagh attended a press conference as they continued their efforts to promote the film, much to the delight of many fans.
Looking at this picture I'm thinking that Chris Hemsworth as Thor is gonna be a huge success. It's got that same feel as the Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau combo, that same kind of chemistry between director and lead actor. In my opinion that's one of the most crucial parts of making a good movie because the vision is in sync, the goals are in sync and success is bound to follow.
Up next our superhero jet setted of to Munich for a photocall, which took place on 13th April at the Bayerischer Hof, Munich.
On his take of the character, Hemsworth said, "We just kept trying to humanize it all, and keep it very real. Look into all the research about the comic books that we could, but also bring it back to 'Who is this guy as a person, and what's his relationship with people in the individual scenes? .
Another photocall and this time it's over to Madrid, Spain and that took place on 14th April at Hotel Santo Mauro in Madrid, Spain, Talk about a quick tour of Europe.
By now you would have realised that this ain't no easy job. The hardest part if you ask me was keep up all the apprances and having the camera flash at you multiple times. None the less it's pretty much cast in stone that this guy will be the next big thing in Hollywood.
Last one and it's the THOR Rome Photocall and Press Conference, which took place on 15th April 2011 at the Hotel Hassler in Rome, Italy
About approaching Thor's fighting style, Hemsworth remarked, "First, we looked at the comic books and the posturing, the way Thor moves and fights, and a lot of his power seems to be drawn up through the ground. We talked about boxers, you know, Mike Tyson, very low to the ground and big open chest and big shoulder swings and very sort of brutal but graceful at the same time, and then as we shot stuff things became easier".
Director Kenneth Branagh was in attendance as well.
Did you know?
Sam Raimi originally envisioned the idea for Thor after Darkman (1990), meeting Stan Lee and pitching the concept to 20th Century Fox, but they did not understand it. Thor was abandoned until April 1997, when Marvel Studios was beginning to rapidly expand
And it was rounded off with the world premiere in Sydney, Australia. You can view the pics at our POP Carpet article. So there you have it, traveling all around the world in practically a week promoting this big movie.
Gives a different perspective on the movie business, for sure it ain't easy and so many elements have to be put into it. Heck we haven't even talked about the behind the scenes folks who put the tour together. Haha but that's another story for another day.
