Thermos, the global manufacturer and the pioneer in developing innovative vacuum-insulated products is celebrating its 111th anniversary this year and has a new line up of products as well as a special limited edition SG50 Tumber to celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee. At a special closed door preview, members of the media were not only briefed on the activities and launches Thermos Singapore has in stored for its customers but also a special preview of the “cook off challenge” between an established local chef and the Thermos Shuttle Chef.
Specially commissioned by Thermos Singapore and in collaboration with independent design studio Visual Inconsideration, the limited edition SG50 tumbler is the Thermos JNL-350 SG50 tumbler with a unique design that presents all things unique to Singapore. Specially chosen for its chic look and innovative one-push button design, the JNL-350 is also one of the most popular tumbler models in Singapore. The SG50 model’s design will feature notable local landmarks such as the Merlion, Changi Airport, Gardens by the Bay and even the quintessential HDB flat that reflects the vibrant city’s stunning architecture and landscape. The tumbler also plays homage to Singapore’s reputation as a Garden City by featuring the Vanda Miss Joaquim, Singapore’s National Flower, in the national colours of red and white. The Thermos JNL-350 SG50 tumbler is available at major department stores in Singapore at $45, while stocks last.
Thermos Singapore also shared about its acquisition of Afli, a well-known brand in the housewares tabletop category with products that include vacuum carafes and drinking bottles. Through this acquisition, Thermos will expand its portfolio of carafe products in the retail and commercial channels in its key markets. For fans here in Singapore, a series of carafes and household accessories will be progressively introduced into the market by the last quarter of 2015. More details will be shared at a later date.
Rounding off the media preview was a live preview by Le Cordon Bleu Chef Quek Jee Shan who shared with everyone how the Shuttle Chef can be utilised in everyday cooking. Chee Jee also shared with everyone how the he not only uses the Shuttle Chef to keep his soup warm for his grandmother but also how he utilises the Shuttle Chef’s thermal insulation properties to continue cooking its contents and yet prevent the bottom from getting burnt. Sharing with everyone present his curry chicken that was cooked 2 hours before and kept in the Thermos RPE-3000 Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Thermal Cooker Shuttle Chef, the Shuttle Chef kep the curry warm and tasty while not overcooking both the potatoes and chicken meat.
As part of its 111th Anniversary celebrations, Thermos will hold a celebratory fair at Takashimaya Shopping Centre’s Talking Hall from 2 –14 July 2015 to thank its customers. Apart from highly anticipated anniversary deals, the celebrations will focus on a Healthy Food theme. Fans of Thermos will be also able check out the new models such as the Thermos RPE-3000 Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Thermal Cooker Shuttle Chef and the Thermos JBM-500 Food Jar. Both have a retail price of $250 and $55 respectively.
Le Cordon Bleu Chef Quek Jee Shan will also be present to take part in a series of live cook off sessions. The cook off sessions will be held at the Talking Hall Fair on the weekends of 4 – 5 July, and 11 – 12 July, from 3 – 5pm. During the sessions, Chef Jee will conduct live cooking sessions in a cook-off challenge versus the Thermos Shuttle Chef, with dishes such as Chicken Ginger Stew and Curry Chicken. Definitely something fans of Thermos products or those who love cooking will want to check out.
