The Other Side Of Me

A friend recently commented that I must be really enjoying my photography as with POPCulture Online as I get to attend lots of events and capture many high profile people on camera. While I wouldn’t deny that I do enjoy attending events and capturing them down in pictures to share with the readers here on POPCulture Online, there is also another side of me where photography is concerned.

Like in the photo above (which I am sure most of you reading this will be curious about), I made it a point to also give back to the community whenever I can. The photo was taken at the recent Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language month) 2012 outreach event where Member of Parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC, Mr Zaqy Mohamad, was down to help do outreach to the community for this project and my assignment was to follow him and capture the moments down.

Sure this is a far cry from the usual high profile glam events that I often cover for POPCulture Online but its often the small things that bring me the most pleasure. Just seeing Mr Zaqy and the rest of the volunteers go down to the heart of the Malay community on a Sunday morning to meet both the young and old, the common people and the stall holders was enough to bring a smile to my face.

I guess many of us too have other sides to what most people see like how my fellow co-founder would set aside time from the glam and glitter of radio to bare his sole for charity and of course coming back to popular culture, how a certain billionaire has a side job of protecting Gotham City. Yup I am sure this guy needs no introduction as he will be back in the 3rd and final installment of the Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. And just for all our readers, POPCulture Online’s art department has gone into overtime to bring you a very special set of covers based on The Dark Knight Rises.

We also take a look at the beautiful Anne Hathaway who plays Catwoman in the movie plus pictures from a surprise appearance by Katy Perry at her Part of Me premiere in London. Fans of Mass Effect 3 would have gotten the extended ending from Bioware and we tell you what we thought of it as well.

It has been one busy month for the POPCulture Online team and we do hope you enjoy the reading July issue as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
