I recently wrote a blog post about getting away and recharging, which I think is so important in the stressful world we live in. Then while I was on holiday I found myself actually watching 2 movies. I found the time to watch Saving Mr Banks and Monuments Men while in Perth and I think it really reflects on my personality.
It’s like how everytime I seek inspiration or need to recharge I seem to escape to this world within movies and even if it’s just for 2 hours, it’s the sort of escape that does me a whole lot of good.
The end of March signals the beginning of Hollywood blockbuster season and we get an early start in the form of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I think this has got to be the Marvel film that I’m most looking forward to this year. But then there’s Guardians of the Galaxy too and that’s the thing with Marvel, they always surprise you.
It’s quite an inspiring story about Marvel Studios. I was watching a documentary called Marvel Studios: Assembling a universe and in it they talk about how all their big guns like X-Men and Spiderman were taken by other studios. In a way they were left with the B Team. But with this B Team they realised that they could form The Avengers and the potential for that was tremendous.
Just look at what they’ve done in how they’ve planned everything from Phase 1 to Phase 3 and now we’re being rewarded with the build up to The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will mark the end of Phase 2. It’s amazing to see how they’ve taken the B Team and turned it into the A Team. Vision is so important in this game.
Well, I think Captain America: The Winter Soldier like what critics are calling it “A Political Thriller” should be interesting. I hear Cap spends a lot of the movie in civilian clothes trying to solve the politics before it climaxes into a full on Marvel film in act 3. Will this hasn’t been done before for a Marvel film so you can bet I’m looking forward to seeing the “Jack Ryan” nature of the comic book film.
