STGCC 2013 Interview with Aza Miyuko 01

Having cosplayed for 8 years and counting, the beautiful Aza Miyuko has done many amazing cosplays from the likes of Milla Maxwell from the Tales of Xillia playstation 3 game to Shingeki no Kyojin and even High School of the Dead. Here in Singapore for this year’s STGCC, Aza takes time off to talk about how she got started with cosplay and shares what she feels is an important characteristic every cosplayer should have with Kenneth Wong.

You have been cosplaying for 8 years so is there that one cosplay that is the most difficult and why?

It would have to be the characters from League of Legends as they are hard to make especially the weapon props which I struggle quite a bit with.

What is Aza is outside of Cosplay like her interest and hobbies?

As I am a fashion major, I usually spend my time to working on my cosplay costumes as they are related. I also like to go for strolls in the park and exercise like swimming and working out.

What are her thoughts about attending the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention?

I am a fan of animation, games and manga and to be able to meet all the people who created these things is a great thing. I am also happy to meet my fans that I usually don’t get to meet so I am really enjoying the convention.

How did Aza start cosplaying?

Ever since I was young, I has been a fan of all these animations and cartoons and I always wondered how it would be like to be these character in the animation or cartoon. As I got older, I picked up the skills to make my own costumes so and I thought to myself why not give it a try.

How do you choose which character to cosplay?

I would usually pick her favorite characters firstand next decide if I can best protray those characters. Another criteria for me is if I am able to relate to the character chosen before I would go ahead.

How does STGCC compare to other events she has attended?

The other events that I have attended are mostly focused on Manga but STGCC has both eastern and western content, games and comics and all these together in one event is new to me. I am very excited to have this opportunity to enjoy the event and meet all my fans too.

What does she think is the most important characteristic that a cosplay should have?

The most important characteristic a cosplayer should have is positivity. In cosplay there will be situations where there will be comments that might be negative and hurtful so it is important to stay positive, never giving up and enjoy cosplaying.

Thank You Aza for your time.
