With the 88 seconds Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser release, Star Wars fans all over the world has been going on about the hype that will see J. J. Abrams take over the helm of George Lucas’ epic space opera film, Star Wars. Episode VII in the Star Wars series, we take a look at the teaser which has even seen a fan made George Lucas inspired take and spawned many fan arts all over the internet and social media.
With the killing off of the Expanded Universe and its Lore, we look back at Episode IV where Ben Kenobi commented that about the recruitment Storm Troopers from the populace controlled by the empire. Thus while this might mean John Boyega’s appearance in a Storm Trooper outfit might point towards that and not from the clones wars. Yet why he is doing on the familiar dessert of Tatooine? Hopefully it will be not that of a Han Solo inspired undercover ops.
With about 30 years after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi or Episode VI, it is worrying that the X-Wings are still around. In the now extinct expanded universe, Incom, manufacturer of the Iconic X-Wings planned to do replacement exercise to the E-Wings. Yet we still see the X-Wings in their full glory racing over a planet’s water surface. Even the cockpit looks similar and what’s with the helmet which looks unchanged with the rebel logo on it? As a fan of the X-Wing, I am crossing both fingers that Incom decided to keep the design but everything internal is new and ready to kick Tie Fighter butt.
This brings us to the next iconic ship, the Millennium Falcon, which looks as good as the day Han Solo used it in Episode IV or Star Wars: A New Hope. Doing stomach-churning turns with the pilot either having no regard of safety or just extreme confidence in his/her skills and the ship. What’s nice to see is that the familiar rounded radar dish which was a casualty against the 2nd Death Star has now been replaced with a rectangular one.
What’s Star Wars without the red light sabers which belong to the Jedi’s enemy, the Sith. From the good old single beam to double breams and now that with guards at the handle? Inspired by two handled weapons from the past? A Bastard Sword maybe? While this has resulted in many fan inspired artwork, it does make one wonder if this Sith follows the path of those who prefer strong powerful swings to quick ones.
Last but not the least, it looks that we have a female version of the young adventure seeking Luke Skywalker from the rumours floating on the internet. Daisy Ridley rides a rather low tech looking landspeeder compared to Luke’s X-34 model. Would she too have force powers waiting to be awaken like the title implies? Is she going to be part of a bigger movement working behind the scenes? Well only time will tell.
One thing for sure is that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser has gotten the whole internet up in talks about possible storyline, rumours about plot holes and thousands if not millions of Star War fans waiting in anticipation for the next footage that J. J. Abrams will release.
