After a first run eariler this year, local ACG event SG ComiFest is back again with its 2nd installment, SG ComiFest "It's ShowTime" and POPCulture Online was down to check out the event organised by TCZ Studio Pte Ltd and supported by Comic Society (Singapore) plus photos from the event.
Being an ACG event, there were many artist booth setup to showcase their latest work ranging from artworks to doujinshi and you could spend a good deal of time just going through them all.
And as we posted in our SG Commifest 2 preview, there was a large tv showcasing the upcoming mmorpg, Dragon's Nest plus the on the spot drawing competition which had people doing their best drawing of the characters from the game. Our photographer and resident MMORPGer spent quite a bit of time taking a look at the game and concluded that while it borrows quite a bit from a lot of high end commercial MMORPGs, this game definitely has the potential in the causal gaming market with good visuals and a detailed but clean user interface.
Not forgetting the many cosplayers and photographers who made their way down even when the weather was anything but comfortable. With the swimming pool area opened as well which gave lots of space and possibilities with the surprisingly nice backdrop, you can see pockets of cosplayers and their photographers everywhere.
Overall while the whole event still feels not quite "up there" yet compared to the big guns, you can definitely see a huge improvement from the first SG Comifest held eariler this year. There is definitely lots of potential to move the event forward and hopefully we will see that happening.
