Selena Gomez and the Scene’s new album ‘When the Sun Goes Down’ was originally titled ‘Otherside,’ It's an able meant for teens with many of the tracks soaked with sunny teen pop style music that will brighting your heart and light the road in front of you after a long bad day at work……or maybe I should say, school. Haha!
The younger generation would definately likes this album unless your a Justin Beiber fan, in that case then you just have Selena Gomez period. Well Justin jealousy aside let's take a look at some of the notable tracks on the album.
Who Says features an enjoyable uplifting straightforward kind of pop track. Actually it's probably the only track which has more weight to it's lyrics, not so meaningless and emo so to speak. It actually allows Gomez to show some form of connection.
Pixie Lott also had a hand in the album by writting We Own The Night. It's pretty decent as well and not as bubblegum as the others. Like I said teens will love the entire album but for us adults, this track is not to bad really. I can actually see myself listening to it while driving home.
Hit The Lights I definitely dig. In fact it could be a massive club hit. The only problem is it kinda sticks out from the rest of the album, almost not making sense with the theme (if there is one) really. It's a great song, I honestly do like it but an 18 year old Disney star portraying herself as some sort of clubbing chick…..hmmm might not work out after all.
Now let's get one thing straight, we're not reviewing When The Sun Goes Down because we think it's brilliant. We're saying that it could be so much more because Gomez has really nice vocals. This album tries a little too hard to be family friendly.
Did you know?
2 songs on the album actually share titles with Metallica songs ‘Hit the Lights’ and ‘Whiplash’, But don't worry, Selena is not about to get into heavy metal rock as these 2 tracks still maintain the squeaky clean teeny bopper music we have come to expect from her.
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
There are some good parts to it and like I said, teens will love it. However if Selena Gomez wants to break out of her shell, she should go speak to Miley…….just make sure she keeps away from Britney.
When the Sun goes Down is out at all good music stores
