An exciting Sunday afternoon saw Thailand sweep 4 Golds and 1 Silver in both Men and Women’s Traditional Boat 500m Race held at the Marina Bay with Myanmar and Singapore taking the remaining silver and bronze medals.
While early rain storms did threaten the races, spirits were still high among both the competing teams, fans and onlookers who came down to the heart of Singapore’s city centre. Thankfully the weather cleared up by the afternoon and the races carried on as planned.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also made the trip down to cheer on the teams taking part in the races as they battle it out for top honours on the waters of the Marina Bay.
Even though each team gave their best and the results coming down to seconds, Thailand took home the gold for both 12 crew races and the Women’s 6 crew race while the Myanmar took home the gold for the Men’s TBR 6-Crew, 500m and the remaining silvers . Singapore took home the bronze for all 4 races held that day.
Congratulations to all winning teams!
