I think we’ve never put Scarlett Johansson as our babe of the month. What on earth were we thinking? We this month she gets all the attention from us as she takes the spot light as Natasha Romanov aka The Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Tony® and BAFTA winner and four–‐time Golden Globe® nominee, Scarlett Johansson was recently seen in theaters starring as Barbara in Joseph Gordon–‐Levitt’s directorial debut “Don Jon.” She also lent her
Voice to Spike Jonze’s sci-fi romance “Her,” which was released in December 2013 and played the lead role in Jonathan Glazer’s film “Under The Skin,” which is slated to open in early 2014 after premieres at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals. In 2013, Johansson also wrapped her second run on Broadway as Maggie in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”
Johansson will appear in the ensemble Jon Favreau–‐directed comedy “Chef” opposite Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman and Sofia Vergara, opening in May 2014. Johansson recently wrapped production on Luc Besson’s action–‐thriller “Lucy,” playing the title role opposite Morgan Freeman. She is currently in production reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” sequel.
Rise to fame
At the age of 12, Johansson attained worldwide recognition for her performance as Grace Maclean, the teen traumatized by a riding accident in Robert Redford’s “The Horse Whisperer.” She went on to star in Terry Zwigoff’s “Ghost World,” garnering a “Best Supporting Actress” award from the Toronto Film Critics Circle. Johansson was also featured in the Coen Brothers’ dark drama “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Frances McDormand.
A New York native, Johansson made her professional acting debut at the age of 8 in the off Broadway production of “Sophistry,” with Ethan Hawke, at New York’s Playwright’s Horizons.
Johansson is considered one of Hollywood’s modern sex symbols, and has frequently appeared in published lists of the sexiest women in the world, most notably when she was named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire magazine in both 2006 and 2013 (the only woman to be chosen for the title twice), and the “Sexiest Celebrity” by Playboy magazine in 2007.
