To the delight of many fans in this part of region, SCANDAL recently announced that they will be going on their Asia Tour 2011 "Baby Action" come this September to Taipei, Hong Kong and finally to Singapore as their last stop. And SCANDAL fans here in Singapore will have Puffin Entertainment Ltd to thank for bringing in group after an amazing performance last year which left fans wanting more.
POPCulture Online was granted an exclusive interview with the band before they set off on their Asia Tour.
POPCulture Online: Tell us more about the Baby Action Album?
SCANDAL: This is an album we are very confident about because it's a piece of work which shows how much we have grown and it has a lot of ideas that we have put into.
POPCulture Online: The Baby Action album cover shows a change in direction of style, how did the idea of doing away with identical uniforms come about?
SCANDAL: This comes because all members of the group are over 20 years old. For the Japanese, being over 20 symbolizes becoming an adult, so we would like to show our adult style in this album.
POPCulture Online: It's been a busy 2011, you released PRIDE in february, Haruka in April, DREAMER tour from may to June, Love Survive in July, Baby Action album in august and Hall Virgin tour starting in October and ending in December. How do you feel about going on tour and what can audiences expect?
SCANDAL: We are happy about the busy feeling, we don't want to stop for even a second. We love going on tour as well because it's when we get together and discuss about the gimmicks we want to use for our tour.
POPCulture Online: What can we expect from your concert here in Singapore come September?
SCANDAL: This is the second time we are visiting Singapore so most importantly we would like to show our "growth" to everyone.
POPCulture Online: MAMI, you have owned several guitars since the formation of Scandal. Which is your favourite and why?
MAMI: My favorite guitar must be the white "falcon". I fell in love it when I saw it for the first time at the shop and I want to keep it near me every moment.
POPCulture Online: MAMI, since gaming is one of your favorite past times. What is your favorite current game?
MAMI: I like playing my smartphone application – Darts recently. Before that, I like Monster Hunter.
POPCulture Online: Haruna, what sort of responsibilities do you feel you have to the group as the leader?
HARUNA: I think because I'm the most calm person among all the members of the group, I can look after them.
POPCulture Online: Rina, being a female drummer, while most drummers are usually male, are there any female drummers that u look up to?
RINA: I would say Maximum The Hormone's NAO is the one I like very much because their songs are very powerful!
POPCulture Online: Tomomi, being the one that writes the most lyrics in the past, Baby Action sees a new direction in song writing with every member writing an equivalent share of songs. how will this impact the type of songs that SCANDAL will produce?
TOMOMI: All the members write lyrics from before as well and I'm happy about all members being involved more. Because we are a 4 member group, I think it's good to show all the members' feelings and emotions in the songs as well.
POPCulture Online: Do you have any special message for your Singaporean fans?
SCANDAL: Thanks for supporting SCANDAL!
We feel proud because our music break the boundary between countries and language.
Please come to join our tour on September!!
