As part of her promotional tour in the region to promote her latest album “A Tale of Two Rainie (雙丞戲)”, Rainie Yang (楊丞琳) held a special showcase at Shanghai Dolly plus an autograph session at Compass Point.
Exclusively for Singtel AMP-ed subscribers, the showcase was held on a Saturday evening where the heavy rain could not keep ticket holders away as the queue formed as earlier as hours before showcase started. In a classy black dress with her blue hair complementing her whole look plus that million dollar smile with captivated both writer and photographer, Rainie Yang opened the night with “雨愛”, from her 5th album of the same name.
Even though she had some phlegm issues which she admitted was due to her eating some pandan cake as she was getting too hungry before the showcase, Rainie still sounded good even though not at her best as she commented later on.
Other hit songs performed that night included “点水”, “想幸福的人”, “其實我們都值得幸福” and “一小節休息” which the latter two were both done unplugged. Even though she had some issues with her monitor earphones, both her onstage batter and her personality coupled with years of experience ensured that it didn’t cause any major issues.
Ending with the popular hits “下個轉彎是你嗎” and “我想愛” from her latest tv drama “Love at Second Sight (一見不鍾情)” plus a special performance of her classic hit “曖昧”, Rainie charmed everyone present with a promise that she will be back for a concert to delight of her fans.
Rainie Yang’s autograph session was held the next day at a very crowded Compass Point which saw fans and shoppers pack the mall in both the atrium and all the way to the fourth story which offers a view of the stage. A booth was also set up next to the stage selling her albums which carried all 3 versions, including the pre-order versions for fans who didn’t manage to get it the first time. Sales was good with stocks being replenished by staff continuously.
Appearing with her unforgettable smile and a white themed outfit, Rainie was welcomed onto to stage with loud cheers and applause as she performed “点水” and “其实我们值得幸福” for fans present. She also played a little Pictionary inspired game with 3 lucky fans who walked away with special premiums.
Ending the session with the autograph itself, she still kept her smile even as the queue stretched from stage to almost the end of the mall as fans continued to queue for almost 2 hours.
It has been 15 years since Rainie Yang first broke into the music scene as part of the girl group 4 in love and onto the screen with Meteor Garden, yet her popularity continues to grow and we can’t wait to see what else she has in stored for all her fans.
