POPCulture Online visits SOYC

Of course when there are competitions, there must be prizes. Congrats to the all the winners who walked home with prizes and for those who did not win, do not lose heart as you are still winners in your own right for being on stage and giving your best.

Winner of the Animax Karaoke Competition

Winner of the Battle of the Anibands Competition

Winner of the Blazebue Competition

Winner of the Cosplay Solo Competition

Winner of the Cosplay Group Competition

Winner of the most MOE competition. Yes in true SOY spirit, there was another ad-hoc competition at the end of it all. And this very MOE Taiga won herself a Tofu plushie.

If you remembered the SOYC Updates Round Up article posted a few days back, there was mentioned of Omake Studios setting up a charity. POPCulture Online is very happy to share that 82 people has visited the Omake Studios booth at A33/34 with a donation of $724 dollars. Omake Sama who mentioned that he will donate $1 for every person has decided to top it up to $100 making the grand total to $824.

Final Thoughts

From the initial rumors to the official confirmation that SOY this year will be pushed back to April instead of the usual January, there has been alot of questions raised about the event. One comment about last year's SOY was that the place was too small for the amount of visitors and cosplayers and many wondered if the venue would be better this year. And with the date being pushed back, more questions were raised wondering what was going on.

But I am happy to say that these questions and doubts if any were soon forgotten as this year's SOYC was definitely a huge improvement and maybe even more. Using the biggest convention venue in the school which is the convention center with the line up of activities and even the list of sponsors, the SOY planning committee have outdone themselves this year.

Waking up early to travel to the West side of Singapore has never been so worth it!
