Japanese Electropop all girl group Perfume will be making their world debut thanks to upcoming Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios animated movie, Cars 2.
In the movie, the duo of star race car Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater that their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car.
One of these places will be Japan and as the two of them together with the Finn McMissile from the British Intelligence are scene checking out the city before the race. And in the background you can hear Perfume's Polyrhythm playing the background.
It has also been decided that the Polyrhythm will also be included in the official soundtrack for Cars 2. This will not just be a Japanese release but a worldwide one thus giving Perfume their world debut.
Polyrhythm was selected thanks to many recommendations when the Cars 2 official website announced that they were looking for a nice Japanese song for the scene. It was also reported that the producers and directors liked it as well and were delighted to find such a fitting song.
It is common to have Japanese artist provide songs for Japanese releases of movies but only a few have been included in the international release of the non-Japanese movies. It is definitely an honor for Perfume and a good chance to become known outside of Japan and overseas J-POP fans.
