The Magic of Disney Reviewed

The music of Disney has been enchanting and entertaining audiences for generations, from the first time Mickey Mouse whistled a tune in Steamboat Willie to the modern-day phenomenon of the internationally popular Hannah Montana.

It's pretty safe to say that music was a key ingredient of Walt Disney's success. Here's an album that suitable for the young and old. Featuring hits and familiar tunes like "The Circle of Life" and "A Whole New World", many great artistes from the likes of Elton John and Peabo Bryson to even Celine Dion or Vanessa Williams have gone on to sing the themes of many great Disney classics.

The Verdict

Listening to this album not only brought back memories but it also reminded me just how powerful the lyrics of a Disney song was. It's the kind of album that transcends all genres and age groups, in fact I remember how the father of a friend of mind would constantly request for Vanessa William's Colors of the wind to played on radio. It really showed how that one sincere powerful tune really connected with him and I think that's the magic of a Disney song.

I'll be honest and say that not all the tracks will appeal to you but there will be a significant number that will bring back a moment in your life, spark a memory and perhaps draw a tear of joy or a smile of hope. For those with kids, share this album with them and show them how Disney used to touch the lives of so many children both young and old before 3D technology or the electronic tunes fill the thoughts of the current generation.

I think one track in particular will always stand out as a Disney magic tune and that's "When you wish upon a star". It makes you remember how when you were a kid that anything was possible and all dreams could come true just by wishing upon a star. Well of course we all grew up and you realise it's not possible but I guess this album gives you a chance to go back to that time even just for the duration of a song to remember how simple life was back then.
