Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted Reviewed

I love cartoons! The best part is they don’t make sense which is perfect when I’m brain dead! Well this week’s brain-free animation is Madagascar 3! Can you believe it’s been 3 movies already? I love this franchise and so you can guess how excited I was to check it out. Is it worth it? Oh come on….the penguins alone are reason enough to watch it.

The Plot

Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins are all along for the comedic adventure. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent – Madagascar style Featuring the voice talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Sasha Baren Cohen, Martin Short and Cedric the Entertainer.

The Verdict

Well to put things in a nutshell, it’s a absolutely ridiculous movie! Nothing makes sense….hahaha but that’s the point isn’t it! The whole idea is that it’s not supposed to make sense, it’s supposed to be a fun wild ride!

What I think works for this movie is that the 4 main characters have quite a strong appeal to children and they are on a journey of self discovery as they make their way home but the main draw is the crazy antics of all the side characters. Ok first there’s the Penguins who are just plain nuts! They are are everyone’s favourite and personally I’m always waiting for the parts when they appear.

Then we have King Julien voiced by Sasha Baren Cohen who does a brilliant job. This movie he falls in love and yeah….it doesn’t make sense. The stand out for this movie has to be the villain Captain Chantel DuBois voiced by Frances McDormand. She’s deadlier than any comic book super villain and more powerful that any superhero. She’s probably the best villain in the entire franchise and if they do a part 4, I hope she returns.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

The animation is grand, and the lovely images may be enough to send really young kids away happy.
