Whether it’s a parade of black feathers or the ticket tabs of every country you’ve ever been to, the La Sardina DIY camera allows you to make a personal style statement even before you crank that film and snap your first picture.

Teaming up with well known fashion retailer, Actually+ (http://www.actuallyshop.com/), Lomography invited three fashion influencers to take their pen, paint and glue and customise their very own La Sardinas. Using an old earring, Trishna Goklani (accentsofgold.blogspot.com), gives her gold plated La Sardina an extra bling and a dash of Indian charm. “I wanted the camera to embody the name of my blog, Accents of Gold, and also to reflect my ethnicity,” enthused Trishna.

Available in both black and white, these La Sardina DIY editions allow you to choose the base colour for which your creative juices will build on. Need inspiration? The La Sardina wardrobe (http://www.lomography.com/magazine/tags/319416-la-sardina-wardrobe) features all kinds of wacky and interesting DIY designs. But well, if you are the kind that goes “thumbs down” when it comes to arts and crafts, the La Sardina has pre-designed models drawn and crafted by talented artists.

DIY entries submitted by the public.
Functionality wise, although the Lomography’s motto is to “Don’t think just shoot!”, with an aperture fixed at f/8 and a shutter speed of 1/100, one does have to think before you shoot unless you want to spend $12-15 developing a roll of black rectangles where pictures are suppose to be. But if you’re the kind who spends a lot of time in the bright sun or loves blasting off the flash frequently, then this camera might work well into your repertoire.
