From her 2007 pregnancy Lopez had been writing her seventh studio album, Love?; release had been planned for Summer 2010. It features productions from Danja, Jim Jonsin, Darkchild, Chris n Teeb (from Dropzone), Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, D'Mile Mike Caren, Jean Baptiste and The Neptunes.
A song titled "Fresh Out the Oven" featuring Miami rapper Pitbull surfaced online in October 2009 but her record label said that it was simply a buzz single. It has since topped the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
The project's official lead single, "Louboutins", had its radio debut on November 23, 2009, following the song's premiere and performance at the 2009 American Music Awards. The song only managed to enter the Hot Dance Club Play chart six weeks after release and reaching number 1, however, it failed to enter any other chart, including the Billboard Hot 100. In late February 2010, it was confirmed that Lopez and Epic Records had parted ways.
But after more rumours and speculation of her plans, it was revealed In January 2011 that Lopez released a new lead single titled "On the Floor" featuring Pitbull, it achieved worldwide success on the charts, including a top 10 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Lopez her first top ten on the chart since "All I Have" in 2003. The album Love? was later released on May 3, 2011
On the Floor." (To its credit, the song's unapologetic mix of Ibiza beats and unrelenting hooks—lifted from Kaoma's 1989 hit "Lambada"— play to both Lopez's strengths and radio's current fascination with European dance beats.) It's a song I can't get out of my head ever since seeing JLo perform it on American Idol. It's a nice pick me up tune to get you going, perfect for workouts, club play or radio play.
Looking at the album on a whole, Love? isn't the all-out dance album it could have been. With the exception of the Lil Wayne collab "I'm Into You," the album's other midtempo tracks while good are not as outstanding in terms of an upbeat dance album.
But let's take a look at the big picture, She's now 41 and she's an American Idol judge, she has also hooked up with Island Def Jam to release ‘Love?,’ which boasts an impressive roster of A-list songwriters and producers (such as RedOne and Lady Gaga), as well as guest performers.
Love? is like a collection of dance pop with just enough hints of Latin spice to remind listeners of Jenny's from-the-block past without losing sight of her present.
Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
It's a good album, not like her past work but we need to accept that she's come a long way from being Jenny from the block. I'd say she's a lot more woman now and I really like that. Plus I still can't get enough of "On the floor"
