INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, Review‏

So I was tasked to review INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 and I asked myself what Hollywood was going to offer this time? Because The Conjuring was kinda “meh” for me (I don’t know why people keep raving about it), but since this is a chapter 2, I decided to do some homework and watched INSIDIOUS.

Best decision ever! It was a great movie and it actually creeped me out (Which is very difficult to do btw) Onward march to INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, scrapbook in one hand, sidekick Alex in the other (well not really in my hand).

Random moment…..there was this really under dressed person at the preview caressing his leg hair throughout the movie. Don’t ask me how I noticed but it definitely added creepy factor for this movie.

Anyways, renowned duo; director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell and the original cast of Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins are all back for this second outing and in a nut shell it follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

The Verdict

This is a really creepy movie. Let me state my point again, THIS IS A REALLY CREEPY MOVIE!!!

There were no dull moments and hints to the mystery are dropped generously. The scary scenes were never subtle, they were in your face and slightly considerate because it gave you time to simmer in the shock you just experienced before hitting you again!

No gore what so ever, the gothic make up and cinematics were ENOUGH to cause a heart attack or two. The only problem I had was that Rose Byrne looked hotter in the first movie (Not very relevant I know)

Patrick Wilson in Sony Pictures' INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2.

Lastly, they managed to throw in the right amount of humor to make it a more complete movie experience. I love horror movies and I think this is one of the best I’ve seen this year. I’m already looking forward to the sequel…..spoiler alert. Opps!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

We usually type a summary line here but I believe a picture tells a thousand words….so here’s me totally loving the first movie, and Alex (right) in state of mental shock…..and his shock continued into Chapter 2 as well……loser
