On Monday, 9 March Rock fans from Singapore and around the region were treated to an absolutely amazing concert by Incubus at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel, Resorts World Sentosa. And thanks to FIJI Water, Elliott Danker was in the thick of the action, VIP style as we find out more!
It was a fantastic atmosphere as about 2300 fans were packed in the concert area! All eager and energetic as the minutes drew closer. And then a countdown clock from 5 minutes appeared on the screen and boy did that really get the crowd going. By this time I was already impressed with the production value.
Incubus came on to a roaring crowd with their intro song of the night – Wish you were here! I was blown away already, oh my gosh the view I had as Brandon Boyd just belted out on stage! I even recorded a short video and put it up on my instagram and I already had a friend from Australia comment that she wished she were there!
It was all in the energy the band had and you know how they say the first cut is the deepest…..well they cut deep! The crowd was ready!
I had earlier finished an interview with Jose Pasillas and he talked about how much the band appreciated making music and being able to travel the world in the process and you could sort of sense how much they wanted to connect with their fans from the get go.
This sold out show was on!
The band performed many of their popular hits and you could tell the audience demographic leaned toward the older hits especially when ‘Drive’ came on! They also treated their fans to their new track, ‘Absolution Calling’ which will be featured on their upcoming EP, Trust Fall (Side A).
I gotta hand it to Brandon Boyd, to maintain 90 minutes of high energy is really not easy and his band were behind him all the way keeping the crowd on their feet. This is one concert that was so nostalgic (with all their earlier hits) yet at the same time current. Goes to show their music has really stood the test of time.
INTRO– WISH YOU WERE HERE
MADE FOR TV MOVIE à HELLO?
WOLVES à (END ON G)
NICE TO KNOW YOU
CROW à SHE’S SO HEAVY
It was interesting as well to see so many young fans turn up for the concert. I spoke to some of them briefly and many were just like my younger brother who picked up music after listening to their songs. Some are currently putting their best foot forward for a career in music while others have been in the game for some time now.
Funny right, all it takes is the inspiration from one of the biggest bands of all time to shape your career, heck Incubus is one of the bands that got me started on Rock and Alternative Rock!
Trust Fall (Side A) will be released on 24 Mar 2015
