Father’s Day at Caffé B – The Best Way to a Man’s Heart is through his Stomach
This Father’s Day, express your gratitude to that special man in your life by treating him to a luxurious but highly affordable four-course menu over at Caffé B at Marina Bay Sands.
Ken and I was invited down by the wonderful people at Caffé B for a media tasting for their new Father’s Day menu, which would be made available for both lunch and dinner from 14th – 21st June 2015. The concept behind the meal is to indulge the super dads with a wholesome experience. After all, we all know the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
The meal started with the Trio Salad, featuring seared slices of tuna served with a side of edamame beans, cherry tomatoes, olives, honeydew and quail egg tossed in premium organic olive oil. Now, when they say that the tuna literally melts in your mouth, they weren’t kidding. Even for somebody who usually did not enjoy tuna, I almost asked if I could be served a second helping. (But no, even if it’s tempting, you shouldn’t, because there are better things to come.)
We had 3 main courses to choose from. For the steak lovers among us, you could opt for the Wagyu Rump and Potato Gratin, served with buttered zucchini to even out the richness of the taste (not that we are complaining!) Or if you are not a beef person, you could choose the Chicken Roulade stuffed with Foie Gras. My only complaint about the chicken, really, is that it is served in two huge chunks instead of sliced, and the taste of the foie gras is overwhelmed by that of the porcini cream sauce.
My personal favourite is the Sundried Tomatoes and Prawn Pasta. The prawns are so fresh and succulent that you can bite down on them with the most satisfying crunch. The linguine, cooked al dente, is flavourful without being overwhelming; and the tomatoes add a layer of sweetness to the dish that makes the entire combination utterly irresistible.
You can look forward to ending the meal with the Flaming Cassata, which is a raspberry sponge cake layered with strawberry and vanilla ice cream. It would almost have been too sweet, if not for the raspberry core that is just sour enough to balance out the taste. I’m salivating just remembering how the cake tastes like.
This four-course meal is priced at $60 per diner, and you can also opt for a wine pairing with an additional $30. If you are a wine lover, I will highly recommend that you go for this option. Come on, it’s 3 glasses of wine, especially selected to be paired with the starter, main course and dessert, for just $30!
If you are not that into wines, you may also want to consider the cocktail Caffé B has concocted specially for their Father’s Day menu. The Dali Moustache is a cocktail with vanilla cream-rum Espuma, Crème de Cassis, red currants, Cana Brava Rum and simple syrup. The drink slides smoothly down the throat, leaving behind the slight spice of rum.
Do also take note that Caffé B has a “no children under 12” policy. Just take your man out this Father’s Day and pamper him with a romantic meal for two!
