I’ll be honest with you. I’ve never read the book. I mean I wanted to until I found out a movie adaptation was going to be done. I prefer to “read” a book via watching a movie. It’s easier for me to digest. With Fifty Shades, I’m going to keep to my tradition of watching the movie and then reading the book just to see if the essence of it was captured well enough. See, this way I don’t get disappointed by the movie because it will be the first I’ve experienced of the story.
However if I were to read the book and then watch the movie, chances are, I won’t like it. There’s a thing about writing that leaves so much to the imagination, you pretty much make up the movie in your head so the expectations are based on that “movie” you imagined.
So many of my friends have read the book and have talked about how incredible it is. It’s pretty much a Twilight thing when people compare Christian Grey to Edward Cullen. Not in their character but of how they are described. The aura in the language that goes along with every appearance of their character.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out on the big screen.
Based on the #1 bestselling book “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E L James, Fifty Shades of Grey follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele. “Fifty Shades of Grey” has become a global phenomenon. The subsequent novels in the series are “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed.” The trilogy has been translated in 52 languages worldwide since its release. To date, the “Fifty Shades” trilogy has sold more than 90 million copies worldwide in e-book and print, making it one of the fastest-selling book series ever.
Jamie Dornan will star in this hotly anticipated film adaptation in the iconic role of Christian Grey opposite Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. Joining them in the cast are Luke Grimes as Christian’s brother, Elliot; Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s close friend, José; and Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother, Carla.
But many will be watching Eloise Mumford who has been cast in Universal Pictures and Focus Features adaptation of E L James’ best-selling novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.” She will play the role of Kate Kavanagh Anastasia Steele’s best friend and roommate
She has most recently starred as the female lead in ABC Pilot “Reckless” opposite Patrick Fugit and directed by Martin Campbell. Prior to that she was the female lead in the Blumhouse Productions Feature NOT SAFE FOR WORK for Universal alongside Max Minghella and JJ Field, directed by Joe Johnston, and was the female lead in the Independent Feature DRONES alongside Matt O’Leary, directed by Rick Rosenthal.
Mark February 12 on your calendars. I know I will!
