One of the local events that We at POPCulture Online always look forward to support each year is ComiFest which promotes works from the local comics community (thus the name) right here in Singapore. Supporting local talent is always important and what better way then to head down to ComiFest 2014 which is coming in two weeks time.
To be held on the 9th and 10th of August at Suntec City Level 3 Concourse, the event focuses on a fun and interactive experience for both exhibitors and the public and will also features all original creators and vendors and their exclusive comics and crafted products!
We take a look at what visitors to the event can look forward to:
Meet Cosplay Guest Clive and Onnies
ComiFest will see two well known cosplayers, Clive and Onnies make an appearance this year.
No stranger to the cosoplay community, Singaporean cosplayer Clive is well known for his excellent cosplay especially in the area of Mecha. From Freedom to Unicorn and Exia, Clive has done it all and showed everyone what a master craftsman he is. But did you know he also does great “human” cosplay like Oda Nobunaga?
Another well know name to the cosplay community is Thailand cosplayer Onnies who be coming down as well. Known for her portrayer of “Kawaii” or Cute characters, she has definitely won the hearts of many fans in the region. But did you know that she too can cosplay other character genres such as Yu Narukami from Persona 4 and Satsuki Kiryuin from Kill la Kill?
Fans of both Clive and Onnies will be glad to know that at ComiFest 2014, there will lots of interaction chances with both of them. From having Lunch and High Tea with them to even participating in the special 6m by 6m board game, there will be lots of opportunities for fans to meet their cosplay idols.
The Canpix Photobooth
Cosplayers planning to visit ComiFest 2014 will also be glad to know that Canpix Photobooth will be at the event and will be offering their services. They will be offering 5R photo printing services and will include a special mini photo album as well. Fans of both Clive and Onnies can also take a photo with them for a special autograph session.
We hear some of these like the mini photo album are while stocks last so do come down early to avoid disappointment.
Tablet Minitors from OneThirtyFive
As every digital artist knows (including POPCulture Online’s very own Digital Artist), having a good table monitor is very helpful in the process of creating digital artwork. The ability to see immediate feedback on the very surface being worked on has proven to be extremely valuable to digital artist in the industry.
With this in mind and in line with the theme of Comifest, OneThirtyFive will be coming in to showcase two tablet monitors, the 19″ LED Huion Tablet Monitor and the 22″ HD Bosto Tablet Monitor. Those looking to get a tablet monitor will want to check out the OneThirtyFive booth as we understand there will be special discount given.
OneThirtyFive will also having a showcase from local talents using their tablet monitors to create beautiful artwork so do head down as well to check that out.
15 years with The Celestial Zone
A name which many in the comics community will know is TCZ Studio’s The Celestial Zone. Created by local artist Mr Wee Tian Beng, this iconic local comic has spanded two volumes and is in its 3rd ongoing one and one more in the plans.
To mark its 15th year, TCZ Studio will be giving out 1,500 gifts as a token of appreciation to all its fans and visitors to its booth at ComiFest 2014. The 15th Anniversary Art Album of The Celestial Zone will also be launch during the event.
But that’s not all as TCZ Studio will have a special surprise for all cosplayers who are planning to cosplay characters from The Celestial Zone. For these cosplayers, do drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with details on which The Celestial Zone character you will be cosplaying so as to allow Mr Wee Tian Beng to prepare this special gift for you.
