British alternative rock band Coldplay has released the music video for its latest single, Princess of China which also features Barbadian singer Rihanna. Princess of China is found on Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto and is written by band members Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, and Chris Martin, along with Brian Eno.
The music video itself was filmed in Los Angeles at the Taiko Center and was directed by Adria Petty and Alan Bibby. In the music video, Rihanna is described as wearing a “gangsta goth geisha” in two different costumes while lead vocalist of Coldplay, Chris Martin, wears a simplier martial arts outfit. It can be said that the video does have its influences from the Japanese style in terms of costume design, the overall feel is still very Chinese.
