I honestly didn’t plan on giving this movie a chance. I mean it seemed so stupid, I didn’t even even watch the trailer till it was played in the cinema before I saw another movie.
But it caught my attention and slowly that Marvel bug started to creep in and I was all game especially how Marvel goes with the whole “Everything is connected” theme. So is Ant-Man worth the time. Trust me, you’ll want to read this.
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.”
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
I’m sure most of you are skeptical of this one too. Lord knows I was. Yes if you know the history then you’re aware that Ant-Man is one of the founding members of The Avengers but in this case while he isn’t featured with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the writers do pay homage to the importance of Dr Hank Pym.
I’m gonna get straight to the point. This movie is all about the magic of Marvel. It is the same case with Guardians of the Galaxy where they’ve taken a lesser known character or characters and made them likeable with audiences.
For me, Michael Douglas is the most powerful actor on this show. While it is about the second Ant-Man from Marvel comics, the story does revolve a lot around the original Dr Hank Pym and I don’t think many will see that coming. See that’s the thing about Marvel, they are so smart with their story lines. You’d think that with so much source material it could get confusing but these guys do an excellent job.
The action is top notch but what makes it clever is the blend of special effects with miniature sets. Ant-Man after all shrinks most of the time right. This movie has it all. Humor, Action and Great acting.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Be sure to stay till the end credits because the second post credits scene will blow your mind!
